Lines in Motion in London

In May 2026, Bugadze Gallery presented Lines in Motion, a solo exhibition of graphic works by Gia Bugadze at J/M Gallery in London.
Bringing together a selection from the artist’s ongoing graphic series, the exhibition introduced visitors to a world shaped by movement, imagination, memory, and visual storytelling. Throughout the exhibition, approximately 500 visitors came through the gallery. Alongside artists, curators, collectors, and members of the Georgian community in London, the exhibition also attracted local residents and many passers-by who discovered the gallery while walking through the neighbourhood. This diverse audience contributed to a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout the week.
Characterised by dynamic lines and expressive figures, Lines in Motion reflects Bugadze’s long-standing interest in the dialogue between historical imagery and contemporary artistic language. References to different periods, cultures, and visual traditions appear throughout the series, creating a rich and layered visual narrative. The works invite viewers to move between different times, ideas, and emotions while following the rhythm of the artist’s line.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the opportunity for visitors to meet the artist in person. Conversations, spontaneous drawing sessions, and informal exchanges became an important part of the experience, allowing audiences to engage not only with the artworks themselves but also with the creative process behind them.
The exhibition attracted visitors from different backgrounds and countries, generating conversations around drawing, movement, history, and artistic expression. For a week, the gallery became a place not only for viewing artworks, but also for dialogue, curiosity, and exchange.
